As has become tradition by now, every Christmas I go to one of my favorite spots to shoot some images. This is a spot on lake Varna in the small village of Kazashko, where there is a pier that lines up perfectly with the setting sun in the winter.
For the first time in years it was not completely overcast, so I was feeling excited, hoping I would finally get a good sunset. And boy, was I treated to an amazing spectacle. It started out slow, but then more and more of the sky turned red. Then, just as quickly as it came, it was gone again. I don’t think it lasted for more than a minute, but it was one of the best Christmas gifts I could have wished for!
Despite 2021 being the way it was, there has been an uptick in photographers, and not all the locals seem particularly happy with this. Just keep this in mind when you visit this awesome spot.
Always make sure you are not trespassing, keep an eye on your surroundings, and ask someone where you aren’t sure. Once it is clear you are only there to take pictures, and not to vandalize anything, locals will often loose interest. They might ask you to take their photo though. 🙂
I hope you enjoy my photos as much as I do. If you do, why not follow me on Instagram: @jackoleenders. It will help me out greatly! 😇
